Photography Apps for iPhone
A better camera app than the native camera on iPhone. With Camera+ you can take exposure from one part of the scene and focus from another; with the native app you have to take both the exposure and focus from the same spot. Camera+ also offers "image stabilizer", burst mode and self timer.
I used this app before the iOS 5 update but after the update I've started to use the native app because it's so much faster to start when the phone is locked. I wish it could be possible to select the camera app you want to use when used from the lock screen. Nowadays I use Camera+ to upload pictures to Facebook and Flickr because Snapseed uploads a smaller version of the image (don't know why).
With ColorSplash you can create images which are black and white except from the areas you paint with your finger - or vice versa. You can zoom in the picture which helps you to edit the details. Very good app if you want to make one color stand out from the picture.
This app won't need introduction but let's say that with Instagram you can share your pictures all over the world. It's very easy and fast to use and a lot of time can be spent while browsing through other's pictures. I wish Flickr would be as easy and fast to use...
After the iOS 5 update I've been taking photos with the native camera and then edited them with Instagram. In my opinion Instagram is a place where you share pictures taken with iPhone and edited with Instagram. If I wish to share or see pictures taken with "real" cameras I use Flickr. But that's just my 2 cents...
Photosynth lets you take panorama pictures. I tried a couple of different apps for panoramas and I was pleased by the quality of Photosynth.
Like the name suggests Pro HDR is an app for taking HDR photos. You can take a picture with automatic settings or you can select the darkest and brightest areas from the scene by yourself. You can also create a HDR picture by selecting two photos from your camera roll. The app has been getting updates on a constant pace and the user interface has improved during the six or so months I've been using it.
If you want to create a sense of movement in your picture, SlowShutter is the app for you. You can set the exposure time between 1/2 secs and infinity (bulb setting). The quality isn't as good as with DSLRs (oh really?) but you can create nice and little different photos with this app.
The Lightroom of iPhone photography apps. With Snapseed you can do almost anything like tune brightness, contrast, white balance and straighten the horizon. It lets you sharpen your pictures, convert them to b&w, add tilt-shift effect and add Instragram-like filters and a couple of it's own filters. Highly recommended.
Before Snapseed I used a lot of different kind of apps to make the adjustments I wanted. I used one app for straightening the horizon, another to convert to b&w and the third to add the tilt-shift effect. With Snapseed I can do all these adjustments in one software.
